Lavender and rose

Making an apothecary cabinet for herbal teas are my new obsession!

Once I learned how many medicinal plants I can grow, harvest, dry and then consume I was sold.

Gardening is my passion and this is just another way to reap the benefits of having a green thumb!

Today I’m drying garden thyme, lavender, apple mint, peppermint and lemon balm. I also have chamomile growing as well as anise hyssop!

All of these make wonderful additions to your cup of tea!

What medicinal plants and or herbs are you growing in your garden?

  • Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla)
    Properties: volatile oil, flavonoids, Valerianic acid, coumarins, tannins, glycosides, salicylate Values: antispasmodic, sedative, anti-inflammatory, bitters, anti-septic, anti-bacterial, prevents vomiting.     This is perhaps one of my all time favorite herbs to grow, harvest, smell, and make products with. It’s a hardy perennial with a heady smell and the pollinators love it as well.   1. Currently my ‘green thumb’ is on sabbatical!!!! However, the aromas of your thyme, lavender, apple mint, peppermint, lemon balm, chamomile and anise hyssop must be heavenly!!! Indeed, you are on a lovely adventure, and I am looking forward to reading more about it.
